How do I get a city cannabis business license?

Cannabis licensing in Los Angeles is handled by the Department of Cannabis Regulation (DCR) in conjunction with the Los Angeles Cannabis Regulation Commission.  Los Angeles permits the following types of cannabis activity:  Retail (both storefront and delivery); cultivation; manufacturing; distribution and testing.

The City of Los Angeles has tiered the application process for licenses based on the type of business.  The most recent window is now closed, so the DCR is not currently accepting any applications for new commercial cannabis licenses.  The application process for general public licenses is expected to open at some point, but it is not clear when.  When the application process reopens, applicants can find the application on the DCR website.  The Los Angeles City Council is currently considering amendments to the cannabis licensing application procedure, so the requirements and process may soon change.
