What classifies as a catastrophic injury?
“Catastrophic injury” is not a legal term, and it does not only apply to certain injuries. In general, personal injury attorneys use the term catastrophic injury to refer to the most severe injuries that are the costliest to treat or live with and require the most care. Catastrophic injuries generally refer to traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, severe burns, amputations, loss of vision or hearing, and some serious fractures.
